Dr. David B. Plude

Psy.D., CEO, Licensed Psychologist
Dave has worked at APC since 1992. He received his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology, Duluth Campus in 1999. While Dave considers himself a generalist, and works with a variety of different issues, his areas of specialization include working with couples, communication, attention problems, mood issues, stress, sports psychology and anger management. Dave enjoys working with people and has over 17 years of experience helping individuals, couples and families work through many challenging issues. While completing his Doctoral Degree, Dave published his research on attention deficit disorder and EEG-based diagnosis. Other research Dave has been involved with at the University of Minnesota, Duluth involved diagnosing and treating college students with ADD/ADHD. In addition to his current duties at APC, Dave is actively participating with a group of local professionals and advocates to improve and redesign our approach to domestic violence and abuse issues. He is an active board member for the Duluth Superior Alpine Club. For any questions:

Shelley Plude

MSW, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
Shelley Plude has been working with Arrowhead Psychological Clinic for several years administratively and has more recently joined our Clinical Team. Shelley obtained her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota - Duluth in 1995. She completed her Masters degree in Social Work at UMD in 2003. Shelley has several years of clinical experience working with Children and Adolescents in both day treatment settings as a school Social Worker. Shelley's previous employment history includes working with the Juvenile Assessment Center, Northwood's Children's Services, and five years as the Social Worker for the Hermantown School District. More recently Shelley practiced as an understudy with Diedre Plude, MA, LP, working with adults couples and families, prior to Diedre's retirement. Shelley's areas of specialization include counseling services with children, adolescents and adults. In addition to her work with clientele of these ages, Shelley looks forward to providing counseling services for couples and families. In addition to Shelley's clinical interests Shelley has spent several years being involved as an active participant in Congdon Park Soccer and with the Scott Anderson Leadership Program

Dr. Kim Schmidt

Psy.D. Licensed Psychologist
Kim has been in practice for over 13 years and enjoys working with a broad variety of patients of all ages. She strives to individualize therapy to fit each patient’s unique needs. Dr. Schmidt competed her predoctoral internship in the Hawaiian Islands where she had the opportunity to receive specialized training in working with cross-cultural patients and post traumatic stress disorder. Additional specialties include sexual abuse, women’s issues, psychological evaluations, hypnosis and crisis intervention.

Dr. Kelsey Berg

Psy. D., Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Berg completed her doctoral degree from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Twin Cities with a concentration in Children and Adolescent Psychology. Dr. Berg has worked in school systems in Minneapolis and Duluth, as well as inpatient settings. Dr. Berg has taught the “Safe Touch” curriculum to children and adolescents in the Twin Cities area. She is skilled in writing comprehensive evaluations around a variety of diagnoses including: attentional issues, behavioral challenges, autism spectrum disorders, trauma related disorders, learning disabilities, attachment issues, and anxiety and depressive disorders. Dr. Berg has also worked with parents to develop parenting strategies and skills to help assist their family system. Dr. Berg has assisted children and adolescents in individual therapy sessions to develop coping skills to handle emotions and relaxation techniques. Additionally, Dr. Berg has worked with early childhood programs in the Duluth area to help teachers, staff, and parents develop interventions and recommendations to assist children with learning and development.

Dr. Megan Paris

Psy. D. Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Paris is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she obtained her doctoral degree in counseling psychology; she additionally has a Master’s Degree in marriage and family therapy. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health centers, hospitals, private clinics, and schools. While she has trained as a generalist, her primary clinical interests reside in couples therapy, supervision and training of clinical trainees, and psychological assessments. She has experience in a variety of evaluative processes, including forensic evaluations, neuropsychological exams, learning disorder identification, as well as ADHD and Autism Spectrum testing. Dr. Paris takes an emotionally focused approach to couples therapy to assist partners in opening lines of communication, expanding their experience of empathy, and building trust. When working with individuals, she takes a humanistic approach to psychotherapy; she enjoys assisting clients in exploring and embracing the previously unexplored or rejected aspects of themselves, gaining insight into their dilemmas, and interrupting unhealthy patterns through an empathetic and caring therapeutic relationship.

Dr. Lindsey King

Psy. D., Psychotherapist
Lindsey is a doctoral clinician who joined Arrowhead Psychological Clinic in September 2012. She received her doctoral degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA in 2014. Lindsey has experience working with adults, couples, and groups. Her dissertation focused on pediatric obesity management which spurred her interest in exercise-based therapy. She currently enjoys working with adults who struggle with a variety of issues to include: anxiety, depression, chemical dependency issues, low self-esteem, body image issues, as well as other mood and/or anxiety-related disorders. Lindsey employs a solution-focused approach to assist clients with identifying their strengths with an emphasis on increasing healthy lifestyle choices to include diet and exercise. Additionally, Lindsey uses exercise during sessions and developed a walking to wellness group to educate clients about the benefits of exercise.

Dr. Sarah Harter

Psy D, Psychotherapist
Dr. Sarah Harter has joined the clinical team at Arrowhead Psychological Clinic Dr. Harter, a former native of the Procter/Duluth area, is returning to the Twin Ports after having obtaining her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology. She obtained her degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. Upon completion of her doctoral degree, Dr. Harter provided individual psychotherapy services at Allendale Associates therapeutic day school and outpatient community clinic to children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and learning disorders. Dr. Harter is currently accepting new clients and appointments can be scheduled by calling (218) 723-8153.

Corry Duffy, M. Eq

Corry is a Duluth native who got her BA in international studies at Macalester College, her M.Ed. in counselor education from the University of Texas-Austin, and is completing her Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She is returning to Duluth after spending a year as a predoctoral intern at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. Corry has worked in a variety of settings, including K-12 public schools, universities, community mental health centers, and providing in-home crisis counseling, She has particular interest in issues related to identity development, relationship difficulties, stress management, and trauma experiences. Corry's therapeutic style is collaborative and strengths-based, helping clients learn to be intentional in their choices and to find meaningful ways to be in the world.

Jason Stahl

Doctoral Intern
Jason Stahl graduated in 2009 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with his B.A.S in Applied Psychology. He is currently a doctoral candidate from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University-Twin Cities where he completed his course work for his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. He has experience with assessing and working with a wide variety of mental health needs ranging from chemical dependency to sever and persistent mental illness. During Jason’s Psy.D. program he spent one year training at Schlutter and Associates where he conducted psychological assessment, individual therapy, family therapy, and worked with outpatient dual diagnosis (chemical dependency and mental health) groups. During his graduate training he also spent one year training at CAPS-SCSU working with the adolescent and the immerging adult populations providing individual therapy. Outside of his doctoral training Jason has worked with Community and Family Services, LLC. providing in-home family therapy in St. Cloud and the surrounding area. Jason is a very personable therapist who takes a person centered approach to therapy in which he incorporates solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. Jason enjoys working with cients in a manner where they feel listened to, validated, and provides tailored interventions that his clients are able to engage in.

Carl Saxton

Doctoral Intern
A native of Colorado, Carl is a Doctoral Intern completing his Psy.D. from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He received his BA in International Management from Hamline University then spent four years living in Japan teaching English at the Elementary and Junior High School level. After returning to the U.S. he began working for the nation’s largest non-profit hunger relief organization dedicated to ending hunger in America. Since switching career tracks Carl has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including elementary schools, nursing homes, community mental health centers, and psychiatric hospitals. He has particular interests in working with young children, adolescents, young adults, and LGBTQ individuals. Carl has created, developed, and published a program that provides resources, psychotherapy, and self-esteem building for LGBTQ youth who may have experienced bullying. Carl is an avid sports fan, competitive USMS swimmer, and active outdoorsman.
