Juliana Turner
Qualifications
Licensed Graduate Social Worker
Master of Social Work
Bachelor of Arts
Juliana was born in Yokosuka, Japan and spent much of her life traveling with her family while growing up in a military household. Living in different places and experiencing a variety of cultures helped shape her appreciation for different perspectives and ways of connecting with others. Although her family is originally from the East Coast, Duluth has become home. Juliana earned her Bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology from Franciscan University of Steubenville before completing her Master of Social Work at The College of St. Scholastica. She has experience providing care in both inpatient and partial hospitalization settings, including Amberwing, supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges. These experiences strengthened her passion for meeting clients where they are with compassion, authenticity, and nonjudgmental support during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Throughout her education and clinical experience, Juliana has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. She also worked as a music teacher and continues to enjoy playing guitar in her free time. She values creativity, mindfulness, and the role that self-expression can play in healing and personal growth. Juliana is particularly drawn to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed approaches to care. Through graduate coursework and clinical training, she developed an understanding of trauma-informed therapy and the ways trauma can impact emotional regulation, relationships, and the nervous system. She is also interested in Polyvagal Theory and enjoys helping clients better understand the connection between their minds, bodies, and emotional experiences. Juliana also enjoys incorporating psychoeducation into her work to help clients better understand themselves and their patterns in a way that feels empowering and approachable. She approaches therapy from a collaborative and authentic perspective, believing that both the client and therapist are fellow travelers navigating life’s challenges together.
