Makayla Pearson

Makayla is a lifelong Duluth-ian; She enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family and values the connections and experiences that come from nature. As a former Girl Scout, Makayla developed a deep appreciation for finding value and purpose in every experience.

Makayla earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the College of St. Scholastica, along with double minors in Spanish and Native American Studies and a certificate in Healthcare. She continued her education through the Advanced Standing program and received her Master of Social Work with a clinical focus from the College of St. Scholastica.

Makayla has specialized training in Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and identifies her approach as generalist psychotherapy. Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked as a Behavior Technician providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In therapy, Makayla draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Ecotherapy. She works collaboratively with clients to address anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and the everyday challenges that can affect emotional well-being.

Makayla believes in a person-centered, strengths-based approach to counseling. She strives to understand each client's unique experiences and perspectives, creating a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment where clients feel heard and empowered. She is passionate about helping children and adolescents ages 4 to 18 develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive.

Makayla offers both in-person and online counseling services to meet the needs of clients and their families.
